Porsche Carrera Cup Australia - 'Pro' #101

Launching his Motorsport career at the beginning of 2021, Ryder's first year of competitive Motorsport saw him take out the Queensland State Formula Ford Championship. This was followed by the 2022 National Formula Ford Championship where he took out a number of podiums, wins and achieved the Rookie of the Year “YOUNG GUN” Award. Alongside this, he would compete in the very competitive National Aussie Racing Cars Championship.

Ryder competed in the Castrol 22/23 Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship in NZ, achieving a solid result. In 2023 Ryder competed in seven of the eight rounds and had many impressive performances in his rookie year.

Although starting his career late, he is determined to make it in this sport as a professional race car driver overseas. To achieve this he is looking for podiums and race wins in the 2024 Porsche Carrera Cup championship.

Background

What are your top 3 career highlights (Motorsport or otherwise)?

First win in the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Championship. This felt good as Formula Ford is a proven category of recognising whether or not you have what it takes to become a professional. These wins (the first especially) was a big confidence boost for myself that I can “do this”.
First podium in the 2023 Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship. To have achieved a podium in this championship that has produced drivers like Lando Norris, Marcus Armstrong, etc, at Round 1, in my second ever race with wings slicks car was pretty special. To have done this at my Grandfathers track, Highlands Motorsport Park, made it even sweeter.
My first Pole position. Winton, Australian Formula Ford, Round 3, pole position. This was a cool feeling.

Any other personal interests or achievements you would like to share?

Alongside Motorsport, I was College Captain at Saint Stephens College. This has equipped me with many skills that I am eternally grateful for and put into practice every day of my life.

Everything so far.

What is your all time favourite race car?

Toyota FT-60 or Porsche 992 Cup Car

What is your favourite circuit?

I may be biased… But Highlands Motorsport Park.
