Tim Miles

Tim started his career back in the eighties when he competed in the NZ Formula Ford and South Island Sports Car championships.

He then moved to the UK where he worked with teams competing in Formula 3, Formula Renault and the BTCC. In the five years he was in the UK, the teams Tim worked for secured three championship victories.

Since moving away from motorsport Tim has held a variety of executive positions specialising in merger and acquisition transactions and is the founder and Principal of successful corporate advisory practice. www.miles.com.au

Tim was 2016 GT3CC Elite champion and runner-up in the 2017 AGT Endurance championship. Tim joined Carrera Cup in 2018 for his first Pro Am campaign. 2023 will be Tim's tenth season with MR.

What are your top 3 career highlights so far?

  • Being involved in motorsport all my life.
  • Combining motorsport and my business to successfully manage the sale of V8 Supercars to Archer Capital.
  • Scoring multiple podiums in both seasons that I have competed in GT3 Cup Challenge.

Have you raced in any other events or categories?
I have been involved in motorsport for as long as I can remember. My father was a founder of the Ashburton Car Club and mate of Andy McElrea's dad Rod.

I competed in NZ until I was 20 and then left for the UK. In the UK I worked in British F3 and the BTCC and was involved in 3 championship victories (2 in F3 with JJ Lehto and David Brabham and 1 in the BTCC with Will Hoy).

Since returning to Australia I have been involved as a founder and co-owner of V8 Supercar team Tasman Motorsport and am currently a part owner of Triple Eight Race Engineering.

I returned to driving in 2012 doing 4 races in Aussie Race Cars and 2016 will be my third full season of GT3 Cup Challenge.

Any other personal interests you would like to share?

  • Making it to 49 and only looking 54!

What are your favourite motorsport moments?

  • Driving the Aston Martin GT at the 2015 SMP round of the AGT.

What is your all-time favourite race car?

  • 1988 McLaren MP4/4.

What is your favourite race circuit?

  • Spa Francorchamps.
