The MR USA team tested at the famed Watkins Glen International circuit earlier in the month which gave us valuable experience at a circuit that many of our competitors have vast knowledge of.
As usual, we based our starting setup on a comparable Australian track and tuned the cars to the driver's needs, so despite not having any experience here, we were still confident of continued success and solid results.
Tom ‘Wombat’ Sargent qualified 5th for race 1 and 4th for race 2, but did another ripper job to take P3 and his 6th podium from 8 races in race 1. Race 2 was a slightly calmer affair but he used the time to figure out some of the secrets of being fast here and took another great points haul with 4th.
After qualifying 15th, in race 1 Thomas ‘Beaver’ Nepveu had a great race and pushed his way through to P10 till the last lap when he lost a position. In race 2 he had to pit after 5 laps because of a long brake pedal. We felt it was too dangerous to press on, so we regrettably retired the car.
Tom Sargent is sitting 2nd in the Pro Championship and Thomas Nepveu is 14th and MR is still sitting 2nd in the North American Teams Championship. Our Australian Carrera Cup team is racing at Townsville on 7th - 9th July, then we are testing at another legendary American circuit, Road America, in mid-July.
