Road America Porsche Carrera Cup North America Round 5
Published on the 3rd of August 2023 by McElrea RacingThe MR USA team tested at the legendary Road America circuit, a couple of weeks ago and we were very competitive, so were looking forward to a good weekend.
Unfortunately since Watkins Glen, Thomas has Nepveu had sponsorship issues which has ruled him out of the balance of the championship. He's a great kid, and we wish him the very best in the future.

6th, 9th - Porsche Carrera Cup North America 'Pro Class'
Summary
We were 2nd quickest on old tires after the two practice sessions on Thursday, so confident of backing that up in Qualifying.
In the PCCNA championship, your best lap sets your grid position for race 1 and your second best lap sets your starting spot for race 2. Despite the team and driver doing a great job to find clear air for the crucial last 5 minutes of qualifying, he got held up badly by two Am drivers also trying find clear road so Tom qualified a very dejected 4th for race 1 and 6th for race 2. His races didn't go any better with contact from other competitors running him off the road and ruining any chance of a podium.
We now go in to the North American summer break so our next time on track will be a test at yet another amazing track, Circuit of the Americas in Texas on 4-5 September.
