Anthony Gilbertson

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge
Pro-Am
#19

Anthony started his racing started at the tender age of 35 in the QLD Improved Production Championship in 2011 and won the category in his first year.

He has competed in the Production Sports category at the Bathurst 12 Hour where he won his class in 2013. Anthony turned his attention to the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge in 2016 and after securing third in the Pro-Am Championship he went on to wrap-up the title for MR in 2017.

In 2018 he graduated to the Carrera Cup championship and despite taking Pro-Am poles, race and round wins, a ridiculous amount of bad luck early in the season saw ‘Gilbo’ end the season 4th in Pro Am.

After stepping away in late 2019 to lead his growing business, Gilbo makes a highly anticipated return to the track in 2026. A former Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge champion, Anthony returns to the seat with a wiser, more focused approach. MR is proud to guide his comeback as he looks to recapture his title-winning form.

Background

What are your top 3 Career Highlights so far?

  • 3rd in the Elite Class in my first season of GT3 Cup Challenge.
  • Round win in Elite Class at Round 6 in 2016 at Phillip Island.
  • Winning D Class at the Bathurst 12 hour in 2013.

Have you raced in any other events or categories?

  • I started Motorsport in 2011 racing an E30 BMW in the QLD Improved Production series where I won the 2-3 litre category.

While continuing to the race in the state championships I took on the project of building a BMW M3 GTR replica with the aim of running it at the Bathurst 12 hour.

After completing the car we ran it there in 2014 and 2015 and unfortunately DNF'd both times with the 2015 effort coming to an end after 5 laps due to contact with a Kangaroo on Conrod Straight. It was then I decided I would prefer to compete in a (one make) championship and Porsche was the only logical answer.

Any other personal interests you would like to share?

  • Away from the race track I am the CEO of Hallmark Homes, a building company based in South East QLD.

What are your favourite Motorsport moments?

  • My favourite Motorsport moment so far is starting the Bathurst 12 hour in the dark. It required an amount of focus well above any normal race.

What is your all-time favourite race car?

  • Ferrari 488 GT3.

What is your favourite race circuit?

  • Phillip Island.
