What are your top 3 career highlights (Motorsport or otherwise)?

  • My greatest highlight is being able to race alongside my son Jay last year, motorsport has always been something we traded in, and seeing Jay progress through the ranks and onto international opportunities is incredibly special.
  • Another highlight has been competing in GT racing and being involved in the Australian motorsport community at a professional level.
  • Outside of motorsport, building Morris Finance into the national business and ecosystem it is today is something we are extremely proud of, evolving and growing a company alongside great people and partners has been a very rewarding journey.

What is your Motorsport background?

  • My background in motorsport has largely centered around Porsche and GT racing and supporting the development of young drivers. Over the years I’ve been involved in several national racing programs and GT categories, particularly with BMW Motorsport currently.
  • Motorsport has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve been fortunate to combine that passion through business, partnership and racing programs that support and help foster the next generation of drivers.

Other personal interests or achievements you would like to share?

  • Outside of racing, I’m passionate about business, leadership, and building high-performing teams. As CEO and Executive Director of Morris Finance, I’ve spent the past 27 years helping build our business into a national finance company with strong foundations for long-term, sustainable growth.
  • Throughout that journey I’ve always believed that success comes down to people, culture, and discipline - values that translate just as strongly in motorsport as they do in business. Motorsport has always been a natural extension of that mindset, where preparation, teamwork and performance under pressure are key to achieving results.
  • Family is a huge part of my life, spending time with my wife Kylie and our kids Jay and Charlie is incredibly important to me, from a very young age we have shown Jay and Charlie the world to assist with their development and education as people for the years ahead.
  • Coming from an AFL background, some of my most memorable sporting moments have been watching the Geelong Cats win the 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2022 AFL Grand Finals, sharing those victories with family and close friends has created lifelong memories and remains a special part of our journey.

What is your favourite Motorsport moment?

  • My first season in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge in 2019 stands out as a favourite moment. Simply getting to the grid and competing in such a competitive category was incredibly rewarding, and finishing the year third outright in the AM class made it even more special.
  • Watching Jay represent BMW Motorsport at the BMW Driver Academy in Munich, Germany last October was an incredibly proud moment, seeing Jay’s hard work and commitment pay off on the international stage was very rewarding and one we are keen to keep watching.

What is your all-time favourite race car?

  • That I have raced, the BMW M4 GT4 would have to be right up there. It’s an incredibly well-engineered GT car and a fantastic platform for both professional and emerging drivers. Being involved with BMW Motorsport makes it even more special.

What is your favourite circuit?

  • In Australia, Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit would have to be right at the top of the list. It’s fast, flowing and incredibly technical, and it consistently produces great racing. There’s a real rhythm to the circuit that makes it such a rewarding track to drive.
  • The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia is another favourite, with its world-class facilities and layout that gives it a real European feel and Sydney Motorsport Park in New South Wales is also a circuit I really enjoy, particularly for its technical nature and the challenge it presents to drivers.
