Townsville has been good to us over the years so we were hoping for further good luck and some great results for our Carrera Cup Australia pilots.
Unfortunately Ryder's car was not approved by Porsche to compete after a minor chassis repair by an approved repairer after it’s Darwin incident, so he had to watch his team-mates for the weekend. Despite that he was keen to be completely involved in the sessions and debriefs to continue his development even while not driving.
Well that sure was a wild weekend! Our usual good luck only shined on Jackson while Bayley, Christian and Tim had miserable weekends.
Tim qualified 8th then raced up to 6th in the race before contact and damage in races 2 and 3.
Christian qualified a disappointed 14th then charged through to 8th in race 1. In race 2 he was taken out by a competitor's ambitious move putting him in the fence on lap 1. In race 3 he started from the rear of the Pro grid and posted the second quickest race lap before contact with another Pro putting him out of the race.
Bayley qualified a superb P3 showing his true pace and progress. In race 1 he was caught up in crash between two other competitors which damaged his rear suspension. In race 2 he charged from 16th to 8th then in race 3 he had his hands full with a radiator leaking fluid onto one of his front tyres so he did a great job to bring the car home just outside the top 10.
Jackson qualified 10th after a minor mistake then in race 1 he drove a calculated race through to 5th. Race 2 he had a great dice with championship protagonist Hedge and finished 4th before race 3 where he assertively pushed his way to 2nd on the opening lap and held position till the end to capture another podium weekend. Also congrats to our great mate Alex Davison on his round win.
Many thanks to the awesome MR crew, Luffy the Supercoach, Lethal Leigh, our drivers, families, sponsors and supporters.
Our next race is at the legendary Road America circuit in New York on 28 July with Carrera Cup North America.
