Since round 2 at SMP in May, we had the opportunity to welcome circuit racing rookie Tim Farrell plus class B leader Daniel Quimby and SMP race winner Kamal Mrad to the MR Michelin Sprint Challenge team. This increased our team to 7 cars plus Nathan Murray in his BMW GT4 Evo in the Monochrome GT4 Australia championship.
Nathan had another great weekend in the Monochrome GT4 Australia championship finding more speed and produced another great drive in the challenging wet conditions in the first race.
Lockie took 7th in Pro class, which was an underwhelming weekend after the wins and success at SMP. Kamal was 8th after a challenging weekend, adapting to the new team and driving style required by Luffy and the MR engineers. Tim had a standout weekend on debut taking 6th in Pro Am. Eric was in the wars but still managed to finish 8th, John had one of his most competitive weekends in Sprint Challenge and would have finished in the top 5 if not for a DNF in race 2 while Kent continued his impressive rate of development in only his third ever race weekend. Despite being the only older 991 Gen 1 model B class car in the race, we are confident Daniel would have won the round even against a strong field, he is certainly going to be an MR star of the future.
