We are pleased to welcome back Lockie Bloxsom for his 5th season with MR, joined by fellow alumni Brett Boulton in 'Cup Car McQueen', and we are particularly happy to welcome back our 2022 Carrera Cup champion, Harri Jones.

Harri started race 1 from grid 4 and managed to pass Russell a couple of laps into the race.
He started race 2 from pole and lead into turn 1 as expected. Unfortunately, our setup didn’t allow his tyres to 'switch on' in the cool conditions which cost him three places until his car 'woke up' and he set the fastest lap on the way to take 3rd from Wood.
We tuned his car up some more and Harri was simply sublime in race 3 starting 4th and taking a dominant win after three superb passes.

Lockie started race 1 from grid 8, he had a good battle with Carrera Cup race winners Love and Wood finishing 9th.
Lockie started race 2 from Grid 11. He had done a terrific job to force his way up to the top 6 but just brushed the wall coming on to the front straight which pushed his left rear quarter guard onto the tyre forcing a pitstop for a repair and new tyre.
Lockie started race 3 from grid 15, passed three cars on lap one and made it up to an impressive 10th by the finish.

In race 1 Brett started from 5th in Pro-Am and had a great race with Slavin, Jarjo and Grove finishing where he started in 5th.
He started race 2 from the same grid place and had another impressive race; this time, hounding fellow Pro-Am driver Dean Cook and a few of the pro back-markers finishing 20th outright and 6th in Pro-Am.
Brett had a blast in race 3 having a great dice with his mate Matt Slavin, eventually succumbing after a slide and slight loss of momentum.

Summary
What a way to start the championship!
Harri did an outstanding job to quietly make his way from a 4th place qualifying position to take the weekend victory and championship lead.
Lockie had a breakthrough weekend particularly with his race management and aggression after losing his splitter early in race 2 then making 5 places on track in race 3.
Brett had a great weekend constantly in the mix in the Pro-Am category and there's no doubt he signed the most autographs - possibly due to his 'Cup Car McQueen' livery!
Many thanks to the #AMRC (awesome MR crew) for their efforts, attitude and single-minded pursuit of excellence.
We now have a 15-week break until round 2 of the championship at Darwin.
