#14

Gold Coast-based Kent Leicester enters the 2025 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia with McElrea Racing, bringing determination and a fresh competitive spirit to the Pro-Am grid. A lifelong motorsport fan, Kent’s path to racing began in 2023 through Porsche Experience track days, where he honed his skills and developed a passion for precision driving. Those sessions led to a connection with McElrea Racing and, ultimately, a leap into competitive racing in 2025.

Kent enters the 2026 season with a year of valuable experience under his belt and a disciplined focus on consistency. Kent shares his racing journey with his wife and two sons, making it a family affair.

Having navigated a steep learning curve in 2025, he is committed to refining his craft in 2026.

Background

What are your top 3 Career Highlights so far?

  • Every PSC race in 2025 are highlights – but probably at the top is my first ever PSC round at SMP – loved every minute of it.
  • After that, racing Townsville street circuit on V8 Supercars weekend as my 3rd ever race weekend, amazing track, such a lot of fun.

What is your Motorsport background?

  • Virtually zero background and experience, have done Porsche Experience days – level 1-5, completed Level 5 late 2024, got the bug driving these amazing cars and decided to do PSC in 2025.

Any other personal achievements you would like to share?

  • As a teenager in NZ I was a high-level competitive swimmer which lead me into the sport of triathlon. Completed my first Ironman triathlon in 2003 as a 23 year old (3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42km run).
  • Switched focus to starting and growing my business after this however diverted back to the sport, competing in several half-ironman distance races after the birth of my 2 sons.
  • Keen follower of all sports, particularly rugby and motorsport.

What is your favourite Motorsport moment?

  • Hard to go past watching Greg Murphy perform his ‘Lap of the Gods’ at Bathurst in 2003. Growing up, we used to religiously watch Bathurst start to finish every year at home in our household. Greg is from my home town of Havelock North in NZ.

What is your all time favourite race car?

  • Porsche 911 Cup Car

What is your favourite circuit?

  • For tracks I’ve raced so far – it’s limited but I loved Townsville street circuit.
  • For tracks I’d love to race – Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
